LICENSING CASES

(By Telograeh— Soccial CorresDondent.) Masterton, September 5. The Supreme Court opened here today, before- the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout. An appeal was rnado by Senior Sergeant Miller against a decision given recently in the Magistrate's. Court by Mr. Kerr,' S.M., in which a charge against the licensee of the Taueru Hotel was dismissed. In this case a man save an order for three bottles of whisky from the hotelkeeper, and on' the saiuo day purchased several'bottles of beer. The Magistrate held this transaction was legal, but the police appealed against the decision. After lengthy argument, His Honour intimated that he would Rive a written judgment. Decision was also reserved in an appeal against the finding of the Magistrate in another licensing case, in which a man named Scherney was concerned. ■
