TAXING SPORTS GROUNDS
CLUBS CANNOT BEAR FURTHER' BURpENS. By Telegraph—Pres3 Association; Ohristchurch, September 3. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association ■ to-night,_ the following motion, was carried:—"That this meeting is strongly of opinion that it is inadvisable that taxation of nny kind should be imposed on aiiy grounds held for the furthering of amateur sports; that- the balance-sheets of every club associated . with . this association show that no extra burden. can be borne, and that the association trusts ■that it will bo recognised that tho sole purpose of carrying on'these grounds w that our boys shall find on their return that we hiivo as far preserved their 6ports for them/
