SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY
The thirtieth anniversary of tho opening of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Sunday School was celebrated yesterday. At the services there was a special choir of trained children ,from the Sunday School, assisted by the church choir, under Mr. 13. C. Jack. The morning service was conducted by the I?ev. Hugh Beggs, of Kilbirnie, who preached a special children's service from the text in Proverbs 8-17: "Her ways are waya of' pleasantness, and all her paths are peace." Tho choir rendered special hymns for the occasion, and altogether the service was bright and refreshing. The afternoon service was conducted by tho Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A., of St. Andrew's. His text was from tho Second Bool: of Corinthians, chapter 9, verse 7:
"Every, mail according as be purposeth in his heart, si> let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity, for God lovetli a cheerful giver." In tho evening the Kev. Dr. Elliott preached to a largo congregation from .Teremiah 29, 12th verse: "Tlien shall he call upon Me, and yo shall go aiul pray unto Me, and I will hearken unto you." Although tha weather during the day was nnpropitious, large congregations attended rt the three services. The special stage Greeted was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the bright and fresh appearance of the children greatly enhanced the services. The collections for the day amounted to nearly ;C2O, unci aro to be devoted solely to the benefit of the Sunday School. The school anniversary tea. meeting will take place in the schoolroom to-morrow evening. After tea special songs and musical items will be rendered by the children 'anfl others.
