A fine of < 205., with the alternative of sovon days' imprisonment, was imposed on John G. liryn for obstructing a constable while in execution of liis duty. Samuel Beattic, convicted of eonimittiii{? a broach of hie prohibition order, this being the third occasion on which ho had dono so, -was lined 405., with tho option of serving four tccn days in goal.

John fiooley was charged with- throwing stones, to tho danger of property belonging to Mrs. "Wilkine, residing at Mount Ploasant; using- threatening and abusive language towards Airs. Wilkins, and with damaging a window in the house of Mrs. Wilkins. Mr. E. M. Beachoy appeared for tho complainant, and Yr. 11. F. O'Lcary for Booley. This was a neighhours' cjuarrel, and arose out of an Airedale terrier belonging to the complainant attacking the defendant. Several witnesses were called on both sides, and after hearing tho evidence tho Magistrate dismissed all the informations, holding that tho complainant liafi. no right to keep such a ferocious .dog to the -annoyance of her neighbours; further, that "when tlie window was broken tho defendant was on hoard a vessel in tho harbour. On tho application of Mr. P. W. Jackson, a remand to Wednesday was granted in the case of James O'Connell. who -was oharged with the theft of £4 in money from tho person of William Senior. Bail was allowed in £20, and ono surety of £2.0. Frederick Campbell Fra-ser was remanded to Friday on a charge of attempting to defraud -Henry Martindalc of £975 by mean? of false pretences. Bail wns allovred in previously. BY-LAW CASES. Joseph Henry Beck and David Mason wera oach fined ss. and costs for driving their vehicles on the wroug sido of Clyde Quay. For leaving his Tohielo unattended in a public street John MHtanto> wag fined 205.. in default seven days' imprisonment. For having insufficient v fight on his motor-oar Hugh C. M'Kellar was fned ICs. and costs; and Howard Kattnass, 20s. and cost*. John M'Millan was fined ss. and costs for allowing a chimney to catch fire.
