Taumarunui, August 9 At an. inquest to-day on John Maloney arid Frederick' Baddelly, the viotims of the unfortunate tunnel accident, held at Okahukura, a verdict of accidentally killed was returned, no blame being attachable to anyone. A rider was added that overseers should hold a certificate ■under tho Stone and Quarries Act, 1910. TBe evidence showed that all reasonable care .'Sad been exercised since the Public .■Works Department took charge, and' no cbnrplaint's\had'. been received from the men. The evidence of employees showed that they considered the tunnel to be perfectly safe, but the fall of papa was due to a greasy back, which was extremely difficult to determine. It was to have been the married victim's last day in the tunnel, as he had intenrtsd leaving 'with his family to-day for Huntly.
