THE AGE LIMIT
There appears to be a proposal afoot to reduce the- minimum ago at which admission is made to the ranks of tho New Zealand Forces. At tho present time- the minimum age is 20, and tho suggestion is being put forward that it should bo reduced to 19. If any proposal of this naturo is brought forward it will bo strenuously opposed. The fact that a lower age than 20 is adopted in England is no reason why we should expect boys to go out and fight for us when wo still hnvc men in plenty to do the fighting. It is sought to popularise tho idea by making it appear that if tho boys are sent the men of tho Second Division will secure a longer respite We do not think the men of the Second Division will bo flattered by the suggestion that they wish to shelter behind tho boys. If tho Minister of Defence has any thought of this land in his mind ho will be well advised to reconsider it.
