THE. CAST OF CHARACTERS. One of the most enjoyable s theatrical seasons of the year in. Wellington is that provided by the Wellington Amateur Operatic. Society. Thanks to the careful training of its members by Mr. Tom I'ollard, the performances are usually well out of the . ordinary amateur standard, and in numerical and vocal strength, taste in dressing, stage setting, etc., achieve a professional ratiug in the eyes (f the discerning. This year the society's choice lias fallen on Audran's "La ilascotte," a very tuneful opera with an amusing "book*." Rehearsals have been going cn. for a month past, under the baton of Mr. Bernard F.
