POLITICAL CHAOS IN CHINA
REPORTED RESIGNATION OF THE I PRESIDENT London, July IS. The United Press Agency's representative at Tokio states that Li Yuan Hung has left the Japanese Legation at Peking, where he .took refuge, to resume tho Presidency! It is officially confirmed that Germany financed tho attempt to, restore the Monarchy, for the purpose of re-establishing peaceful relations .with China. Tho "Morning Post's" correspondent at Tientsin says that President Li Yuan Hung has definitely tendered his resignation, following a fight between his men and the adherents of Tuan Chi Jni (the Premier), in which three men wero killed. The President issued an appeal ujging the country to support his fuCcessor, Pang Kuo- Chang. The latter, hdwever, has refused to accept the X'rcsidency, being reluctant .to proceed to Peking.— Aus.-N.Z. Gable Assn. AN ACTING-PRESIDENCY. (Rec. July 20, 0.5 a.m.) London, July 19. Tho "Morning Post" correspondent at Tientsin states that in response to Li Yuan Hung's urgent request, Feng Kuo Chang will accept the Acting-Presidency.
