ARBITRATION COURT
CLAIM FOB CO3IPENSATIOK-. In the Arbitration Court yesterday nrternoon, TTefore Mr. Justice Stringer, the Public Trustee, as administrator of the estate of Joseph Shore, of Hokitika, deceased, proceeded ugainst the Success Gold Dredging Company, of Masterton, to re cover £500 as compensation and £14 10s. for funeral expenses. The statement of claim set out that Joseph Shore died on July 16. 1916, aR the result of an accident arising out of hi 6 employment as engineer with the defendant company. Deceased was survived by his widow and two children, who were liix'-eolc dependants within the meaning of , the Workers' Compensation Act.
After hearing argument. His Honour decided that the accident occurred whilo Shore was actually employed by the defendant company. The case was then adjourned pending certain settlements.
