HUTT COUNTY AFFAIRS
9 :— The. monthly meeting of the. Hull County Council was ncld on Tuesday. Councillor J. Wakehani presided, and there were also present Councillors \f. \. Howell, J. Wlutemuu, •£. idwards, W. Galloway, and M. W". Welch. The Inspector ol Works (Mr. J. Yl"! Cudby) reported that a, culvert livo chains in length, at l'liuinierton IMension, had i'aileu in at one end, and ho recommended that the part be replaced with stouter timber. The Alain East i.'.oad hail received considerable attention during the month. Several hundred yards of metal had been placed on tho road between Lower ilult Borough and Trcnthani, and it was settling very well, owing principally to the fact that tho itutt Borough Council had leut their grader for the purpose of raking the metal and kiuping it lii the centre. . The crushing plant, had finished at .Pliinmcrlon, and had since prepared a further supply of metal for the Uorokiwi Hiding. The footpath at Plimmerton was not being gone on with as tho carters had refused to work for the wages offered by the council. There had been a large slip on the Howard Road at Luwry Bay on Maturday, and two very largo slips had been remove;! from liic (lollan's Valley Road during the month. Tho sum of £7065 11s. lid. was reported to be tile debit balance at the bunk. A letter was received from the Health Department pointing out that at Trcutbam <i groat deal of building had been done, and some of the places were built, of setiond-elaaii material, while others were built on very small sections. Tho .Department reiiuestcd the council to pay 'rioro attention to the buildings going up in tho county, and forwarded several drafts of by-laws for consideration. The matter was left over til! next month..
It was decided to make a grant of X! 10 towards the funds of the Taita Cemetery Board.

Mil ho moved tha.f, a reply lie sent accepting the. ground, and thanking Ihe donors for their liberal offer. The following mailers were referred lo the Inspector of Works:—A request, from tin, l'linmicrlon Progressive Association for permission lo plant trees on rosds and foreshoro at Plimmerton; a. suggestion from the Wairarapa Automobile Association- that the culverts on the liinuito.l;a, Road bo lengthened and sonic posts removed, and a- letter from the Wellington Automobile Association regarding the bad condition of the Silverstrcain (forgo Road. In the latter ease the Inspector of Works was given power to act. Accounts amounting to £12<19 Us. -Id. were passed for payment.
