BRITISH GOODS DISPLAY Visitors to tho Dominion Show at Haworii almost unanimously expressed the opinion that this show excels all its predecessors. Despite shortage of labour and other difficulties caused by tho war, tho coinmillco had to-icfuso applications for space. Thera is not one uuiuteresting spot in any of tho halls.
. On all sides piuiso has been, beskiwed on the general arrangements. Advantage has been taken o£ overy foot of spaco, with tho result that tho show buildings ;iro 'packed to their utmost. It is a sight worth seeing in tho Aitchiiicv Hall, to look from end to end and see a forest of Union J.-icks showing up against tho white beams a.ndi walls. The buttor and choeso exhibits look particufarlv- well this year. _ Aji effort has always occn mado to relieTo the sombro monotony of rows on rows of cheeses by palms, icrns, and other decorations. The elTcct produced by liberal and artistic display of flowers and greenery is excellent, and converts this section into ii xca\, joy to the eye. In overy respect Ih'o arrangements are particularly good and eiToclive. Another-noteworthy feature is tho thoroughness with which cxhibitoi'.s have entered into tho erection of stalls.
Under tho direction of His Majesty's Trade Commissioner tho Inrgo central hall in. Urn show building has been designed and modelled for tho exhibition of British manufactured good*. Tho halt ha.s been very tastefully decorated; wo stands have hdan designed ou ii business like plan, and the . various firms' representatives in Now Zealand have done their best to show to advanf.igo tho articles that tho British manufacturers can produce. A now attraction yesterday was tho judging of the exhhbtions of poultry and dogs. The entries were largo. -Tne exhibits were of a good class, and the judge had difficulty in awarding i.ho prizes. Tho judges wore:—Poultrr: Messrs. TC. Black, Ciidby, Dillon, Orindrod, Ciirrin, Higham, and F. Dacre; doga: Messrs. B. C. Bennott, .7. P. Burton, IV. J. White, T. Kirkwood", P. Eastbury, and S. Johnson; cats: Hiss Una Hooker.
OntsPdo attractions included football and a girls' hockey match. The shops nro making a special display of British goods. Thero aro msjiy visitors from other parts of New Zealand, and tho town presents a busy and patriotic appearance.
Tho show will rotnain open daily for ;ho rest of tho week.
