ANNUAL CONGRESS. . Al yesterday's meeting of tho New Zealand Alliance Congress tho .Rev. W. J. Comrio presented tho report of the special committee on organisation. The congress went into committee to consider it. Tho scheme, provided for a national council, an executive, field, finance, and publicity committees etc., and it was adopted. It was decided to inaugurate a Victory Fund of at least .£50,000, to bo raised during tho noxt threo years. Several larno donations wero promised in tho room. The present overdraft, about was paid off through tho ftifts of those present, and' tho efforts of Messrs. Ferriman and Clegg. Resolutions of sympathy with members of tho congress and other workers in the causo who had been bereaved, or who had had relatives wounded, wero passed. Tho Hon. G. Carson, M L.C., reported that ho had received a letter, dated Juno 6, from tho Hon. Dr. Arthur, of Now South 'Wales, in which ho said: "I can safely say six o'clock closing ■ in tho States of Australia in which it is in operation is an unqualified success. Tho people bavo quickly adjusted themselves to the altered conditions, and I do not think there will over bo a return to a later hour."
A great deal of Toutino business was transacted, and several remits and notices of motion wero referred to tho executive for consideration.
The Eev. P. S. SmallfieUl, vicar of Miumlcau, was unanimously re-elected president. All the vice-presidents woro aleo re-elected, and the Eev. ,T. Daireon and Mr. Brown were continued in their respective offices as secretary and treasurer. Thanks were heartily carried to the president, f.ho Rev. P S. Bnssett, Mr. Geo Push; tho secretaries of congress, Rev. Mr. Riwlford and Mr. F. W. West: and tho reporters, iho Rov. G. Knowles-Smith and J. Cocker, and \h. W.
