HUTT LICENSING COMMITTEE

An adjourned meeting of the Hutt Licensing Committee was held at Lower .Hutt yesterday morning. Present: Mr. W. G. Riddell (chairman), and Messrs. J. W. M'Ewan, J. Cotton, H. Kyder, M. Welch, ana J. Oudby. In regard to the Family Hotel, Bower Hutt, the Public Trustee stated that repairs costing £250 were now being carried out, and the Bench granted the license, subject to the- repairs being satisfactorily Tho police reported that tho Central Hotel, Petone (P. Warring, licensee for whom Mr. Young appoared, and Staples and Co., owners, for whom Mr. J. J. M'Grath appeared), was in an exceedingly dilapidated condition, and required rebuilding. Evidence as to tho soundness of tho building was given for the owners by W. 0. Ohatfteld, architect, W. H. Bennett, builder, and E. Eattersby, painter. After hearing the cvidonce, the Bench considered that tho hotel was being put in a state of repair, and it would grant the license subject to tho repairs being carried out before tho next quarterly meeting. In addition to the repairs already required, tho committee etated that the owners would bo required to rebuild one of tho chimneys, put a, zino floor in tho bathroom, and rebuild tho outside conI venioncee.
