Lords on Lord Northcliffe's 6tatus, Lord Curzon announced that he was in no sense Mr. Baltour's successor. He was sent to tho United States for the purpose of co-ordinating the Britisli Departmental mission?, to prevent a conflict of interests and loss of energy. Lord Crewe described the appointment as unfortunate. Asqiiith said that it was a business, not a sentimental, visit to America. We would soon see a concerted application of tho immeasurable resources of both countries to the common purpose. Jfr. Balfour, in replying, said he was convinced that America would not turn back.
