CONCLUDING DAY . By. Telegraph—Special Reporter. •• : ' Palmerston N., Juno 22. The National Dairy Show was couchidsd here to-day. , ROIVINEY MARSH BREEDERS V ANNUAL MEETING. : . Tho annual meeting of tho Now Zealand Eoinney Marsh Sheepbreeders' Association was held at the Showgrounds on Thursday. -Mr. A. Matthews ■ presided. . The.Report showed a satisfactory finnn- ' cial position. The' cash at the bank stands at .£214 and during the year ,£4OO •was invested in war bonds. Tho accumulated funds of the association amount ■ - to .£1207 10s. During the year forty-seven ■■.new flocks were registered. In spite of (he war an increase in export sheep was registered. The chairman said the council was doing its best to raise the standard of tho breed, and markets were extending , ■outside the Dominion. There were now .336 flocks—abouLihree times as many as •■those in the Kentish Flock Book. It did jiot follow, however, that this rapid jttowth was altogether to the ?ood of t the breed. There isas now a second Kent, in tlie North lalfllid. the proportion of Romncys to other breeds being about the same as they ar,e in Kent. The . standard was very high among tlio best flocks, but there »ern. a large number of inferior eheep. There was no restriction or supervision over the export of .'sheen, and ivjerior nijjnals had been exported to the detriment of the breed. •Mr. Matthews hoped that* an arrangement would he made with other breed . Kocioties far combined action in the matter. Mr. .Tames Matthews was unanimously' re-elected president, amid applause. 3fr. ■■ Jacob was reflected treasurer, and for the vacancies on the-council Messrs. H. V. Pulton, A: E. Harding,, 0. Do"nald. ]). Murray, and W.'Perry were elected. Mention was moje of the retirement from the council of Mr. J. Kebbell. . whose valuable work in the interests of fthp association was eulogised. The championship shields were allotted as follow:—Wheeler Memorial shield, .-Maste'rton A. and P. Association; North Island. Ifanawatii A. and P. Association ; South Island, Otago A. anil P : . Association. . / - Mr. E. Short moved: "Tlint ;u'future the Auctioneers' Association, be'asKed to .make a uniform charge of a. shtlliucr in ' the guinea on stud stock." This was ,-carried. ■ ,• ; - A special' general meeting of members was held at the close of the annual general meeting to amend Eule 51 to read as follows:—"A registered flock owner on production,of a written statement that hfe is exporting a portion of ''tis registered flock or that he has sold ■« -portion of _hjs_ToTistered flock for ex-
port, shall apply for ail export certificate from the council, which shall be signed by the owner a.nd endowed by tho president anil tbo secretary of the .association, provided that .in the case of stud rams they shjill be entered singly in Wto association'ji, next volume if not already entered, and that all sheep for export must bo' inspected and passed by an inspector appointed by tho association, and b.°or the association's titoo mark, viz.: N.Z.K.M. The inspector may refuse to pass or tattoo any sheep which ho considers, not typical of the breed or unfit for export."
