SUNDAY GOLF

Sir,—l see that the Mayor of Wellington has decided to secure legislation to enforce Sabbatli observance upon the people. After his biased conduct of the recent early closing meeting, of course no one will be surprised to see him using his casting vote in favour of his Presbyterian friends. What a supine ■ crowd the sports and moderates are to submit to' this sort of thing! But of. course most of the real sports are away fighting to keep in safety those who are now attempting to shackle freo men with the manacles of religious intolerance. As a ratepayer I wish, to protest against the city's governing machinery being used for sectarian and partisan purposes.—l am, etc., KELBUEN.
