Carver, J. Brassol, fi. Cicndou, W. Cotton, W. Kcrr, J. Ward and A. Hobbs. The. Aetinß-Mnio Minister (tho Hon. Sir James Allen) lvroto in reply to a letter from tho council, pointing out that tho pay of tho New Zealand soldier iy<m better than thai, of tio soldier of any other part of.tho British Dominions', and that the pension txhemo' "was on a, very liberal tcalo. Tho Minister of Internal Affairs (tho Hon. G. W. Kusscll) ivroto asking ivhat action if any tho council had taken as proposed to take in tho direction of prohibiting tho exhibition on hoardince and in vestibules of theatres of objectionable posters. In tho conrso of discussion it .•was stated that it was doubtful whether a local body had. power to deal with tho matter, although, it vrae admitted that it was a question that required attention. 1 inally it wus resolved to BURj&st to tho Minister that' tho police ehould ho authorised to take action in tho matter. Tho Bastings Borough. Council ivroto forwardluß a resolution approving of tho "Nat Beamish. National Development fachome, aud asking for tho council's support. It was decided to consider tho matter at the neit meeting. It wjuj decided to call n, eoniercnco to consider tho qiiostion of driving stock throußh the borough, and that tho Potono Boroiißk Council and tho two meat companies be requested to appoint delegates o meet the delegates of tho e HuW boi-onch to discuas tho question, Tho amount of gas purchased from tho Petono Borough.
