BOWLING
EASTBOURNE CLUB'S SiUOKE NIGHT. On Saturday night last the Eastbourne Bowling; Clnb held their annual emokc night, the president, llr. H. Shortt, bein;; in Hie chair. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Messrs. AV. Bennett/ C. Page, G. Munro, H. Mayer, and Pealie. The toast list was a lengthy ono, including that of the "Sister Clubs," which was proposed by Mr. A. Walker and responded to by Messrs. Keith (Victoria). ICinniburg (ftataitai), M'Coll (Kelburn), and Shallcrass (To Ilhvi); "Britain and Iler Allies" wns proposed by Mr. T. M Wilford, M.V. Mr. J. Heenan proposed the toast of the "Anzacs," which was responded to by Captain Simpson and Mr. G. Munro, who gave an intorestinp; account of their personal experience-, both in Prance and Gallipoli. A most interesting incident of the evening wae the presentation of an Honours Board to the Eastbourne Club by Hie Nowtoira . rink—Messrs. Robins, Smith, Greenside and Spiers—who won the recent tournament. The health of (he donors was drunk to musical honours, and they were highly commended generally for their sporting qualities. ° A presentation was also made to Mr. 'J'. Mayer in recognition of his many services to the club, and took the form of ft medallion, a very delicate and beautiful specimen of the jeweller's art. Mr. Wilford presented tho club with a .610 10s. challenge cup for club competition.
