London, May 26. Official: A large squadron of the enemy's aircraft, consisting of about sixteen aeroplanes, attacked the south-east coast of England between 5.15 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. yesterday. Bombs were dropped on a number of places. Nearly all the damage occurred in one town, where bombs foil in the streets, causing a considerable number of casualties to civilians, while shops and houses were seriously damaged. Seventy-sis people were killed, twenty-seven of them being women and twenty-three children. One hundred and seventy-four people were injured, including forty-three women and nineteen, children. Our aeroplanes pursued tbem, and naval aeroplanes from Dunkirk engaged the returning raiders. The Admiralty reports that three' of tho enemy's aeroplanes were brought down.— Aus.-N.Z. An official message from Berlin, in an imaginative account of'the Zeppelin air laid-on May 24, says: "We attacked the fortified places of Sheerne'ss, Harwich, and Norwich, successfully. [The British official report of the raid stated: 'Tour or five hostile airships raided the Eastern Counties last night, steering an erratic course. Bombs were dropped in country districts, mid a man was killed i na Norfolk village. 'The material damage was negligible. Our aeroplanes chased the raiders, but they escaped in thick clouds/"!
