TARANAKI'S PRODUCTIVITY
"A RECORD..FOR THE.WORLD." (Bv Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Stratford, May 18. 'I he wonderful productivity of Taranaki province was reflected in a review of the season given by Jlr.-R. Dunn, president of ithe Taranaki Provincial. ■Farmers' Union, on the seventeenth annual conference. After discussing the bad season and its effects, he went on to say that, notwithstanding the drawback.'the farmers of Taranaki had much to be grateful for. Taranaki had in the previous year put up a Tecord which will tako a lot of beating. The exports from three ports worked out as follows-.—New Plymouth, £1,225,943; Patea, .£1,205,287; Waitara, .£540,197. .Tarano.ki's population is 50,587, so its exports on that basis were equal to a little over JESS per' head. These figures did not take into account, cattle, sheep., hides and wool s°nt by rail to Wellington, owing to shipping troubles. These exports, he said, were probably a record for the world.
