ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
• THE GBOUNDS QUESTION. '['lie weekly meeting of tho Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association wne held luet evening, Mr. A. 1). Wells presiding. The chairman reported that the deputation which waited on tho .Reserves Committee of tho (Jity Council recently in connection with getting the committee to allow more than one game each. Saturday on certain grounds Had got no satisfaction. They iiad placed the matter fully before tho committee, but the committee had later advised that they could not alter their previous decision. Mr Wells thought that the Reserves Committee grew 'stricter each year regarding the grounds, particularly with regard to Hie winter sports. Tho grounds wore in excellent condition and would not bo hurt if a game wero played on them every day in. the week. The matter was serious from the association's point of view, as, under present conditions, a whole grade would have to bo missed each second Saturday. The association required twenty grounds, and could only get fifteen at the outside. On Saturday all tho fourth-grado matches would bo,cut out, but.on tho following Saturday all the games might be played It was decided that the matter be taken further with the City Council, and if possible tho association will combine with other sports bodice in dealing with the matter. \ The Johnsonville Club wroto forwarding fees and the usual players' declarations, and advised that the Johnaonville Town ,Board had granted the club permission to play on tho recreation ground for the present season. Their colours are to be maroon and gold. A letter from tho Taita School Committee stated that several past Wellington players were attending the school and wero desirous of continuing the game. Tho committee asked the association to donato a tall. It was decided to provide a ball. The Karori School advised that they would take part in the competitions as Usual, and had already started practice.
