ONSLOW AFFAIRS
MEETING OF NEW COUNCIL. The first general meeting of the Onslow .Borough Council was held on Saturday evening. There were prosent: The Mayor (Mr. J. M. Dale) and Councillors J C. Gardiner, A. W. C. Palmer, A. B. Topp, E. G. Tucker, 0. Dowden, p. F. Hodgson, E. Hobbs W. Appleton and A. E. Budd. Tho general manager, City Tramways, wrote proposing a trial rnotorbus service between Tnoradon and Kaiwarra for a fortnight, provided that any loss would bo met by the Onslow' Council. The cost poi\ day was estimated at £3, and councillors were unanimous that as tho cost would have to be home by the borough tho offer be declined. Action is to bo taken against a resident of the borough for committing broaches of tEe by-laws. Councillor Hobbs moved "that ' a special sanitation committee be set up to inquire into the practicability of establishing a sanitary service for the congested portions of the borough. When introducing the motion. Councillor Hobbs stated that several committees had been appointed, but beyond inquiring into the matter, nothing bad been done. Parts of the horough were becoming thickly' populatod, and the question of a sanitary servico should receive every attontion. If the committee found it difficult to' suggest a suitable scheme, the borough would havo to ask permission for the use of tho "Wellington septie tank. Tho motion was carried, and the following wore appointed tho committee:—Councillors Topp, Budd, Hobbs,_ and the Mayor. Mr. Robert Aplin was appointed custodian of Khandallah Hall.
