ARCHBISHOP CARR, Melbourne, May 7. Obituary—Dr. Carr, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Molbourno.—Press Assn. TTlio late Archbishop Carr, was born in Galway in 1840. After; a distinguished ecclesiastical education at bt. jarktli's College and the Royal College, Alaynooth, ho was ordained priest in" 1866, and rapidly rose, through his brilliant attainments, until lie was eviscerated Bishop of Galway in .833. Ho occupied the Sco until Soptembor 20, 1886, when he was appointed successor to the late Archbishop boold, ot Melbourne. Ho was the author of various theological and other worKs. On the occasion of the celebration of the late Archbishop's silver jubilee in 1911 tlie Pope conferred on Dr.' Canmarked distinction by appointing him i Assistant to the Pontifical Throne. J
