HARBOUR BOARD
THE NEW CHAIRMAN MR. C. E. DANIELL REAPPOINTED, The members of the new Wellington. Harbour Board met yesterday for the purpose of electing a chairman. There were present: Mr. C. E. Daniell (retiring chairman), Captain C. M'Arthur, and Messrs. W. Wallis, J. G-. Harkness, AV. Cable, R. A. Wright, M.P., A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P., M. W. Welch, J. W. M'Ewan, J. G. Cobbe„ A. Macfarlane, R. E. Sinolair, M_ Cohen, and E. Fletcher, M.P. Mr. Daniell, as retiring chairman, welcomed the new members of theboard. He said -lie hoped they would co-operate. with the old members in. making the deliberations of the board amicable and successful. ' Much important business would have to be handled during the coming year, bub he had 110 doubt about the ability ol the board to reach just conclusions,, and do its duty to the people whosa interests tho members represented. . Hi-. M'Ewan proposed that Mr. Daniell should be re-eleoted to the office of chairman of the board. He said that Mr. Daniell had worked hard and successfully, and he ought to be given the opportunity of completing the many projects that he iad initiated. The board could have no better chairman than Mr. Daniell. •Tlie motion was seconded by Air--. Fletcher. There was 110 other nomination, and Mr. Daniell was declared, The chairman returned thanks briefly. He said that it was very gratifymg to him to feel that he had the confidence of the members of ttio. board. He had taken a keen interest m the work, and though if he considered his own pocket he would not-be chairman, again, he was prepared to do what hes could in the interests of, tho port and the district. Mr. Harkness congratulated the chairman on his re-election. He said that the chief difficulty, confronting the board at the present time was the; labour unrest.
