MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD
ANNUAL' MEETING: Tho annual meeting of the Merchant Service Guild of.. Australasia (New Zealand section) was held at the Guild Rooms yesterday. Oaptata Atwood presided over an attendance of nineteen members. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted: The annual report stated that £100 had been granted on May 12, 1916, to the Navy League, and £2000 had been invested in War Loan certificates. As a result of a subscription taken amongst the; members, the sum of £54 had been raised and forwarded to the wife of tho late Captain Frjatt.. The report further stated that during the yoar 98 new members had enrolled, an 3 six,had died,- including two wellknown looal masters, in ti.o perwns cf Captains Hayward and Holm. Two of the members, namely, Caota:n '!. W. Barrow (late of the Taviiim) and Captain R. Pearson (late cf the ~Opouri) had joined tho Navy, and four .members, Messrs. F. F. Gibson (late of Kathika), W. G. Hasty (Mararoa), R. E. Price (Canopns), and J. Gibb (Defender) had joined the Army. I
