THE BUTTER-FAT LEVY
■ Sir,— Eg the deputation of farinerd who' waited 011 tho Hon. W. D. S. Mac-; Donald asking for a remission of what) they term tho iniquitous butter-fat. levy: these gentlemen. seemed to ha much pertnrbed about tho loss the small farmer is,making through hav-> ing to pay this levy. It is quite refreshing indeed to see tho big men, comprising the deputation taking such •an interest in their loss fortunate fellow-farmers in-a smaller way.oE business. However, let mo suggest to the farmers comprising tho deputation that they come to tho rescue of their own share-milkers by giving them ft larger share of' the. monthly milfc cheque. I know at least one of the. loading members of tho deputation has several families milking cows for him, and rumour has it that they do not get over well treated when it comes todividing tho cheques for butter-fat. lb is to bo hoped the Government does not allow itself to be bluffed by these gentlemen. As a matter of fact, ths man who really does the toil says little or nothing about the butter-fat tax—lb is the big man who has been raking in: the money for the last two or three seasons quicker than ho has ever dono before, who is making all the fuss.—l 'am, etc., - BRITISHER,
