The course yr&e ioldiug. The totalieator through. as against ili,sW last year: The total, for the meeting was ,«30,8i0, as compared with .£26.671 last year. Steel Boll's viotory in the. Liverpool Handicap was a great performance. She and Harold Junior were almost equal favourites. Lieutenant, Pax, Jolly Girl, Waverley, and Cora Dillon also wero well supported. ,The field eot.off the mark well, with the exception of Seggio Huon. At the end of the first half mile Waverley was in the lead, followed by Pearl d'Or and Harold Junior. Before another quarter of a mile had been travereed, Harold Junior went to the front, followed by Jolly Girl.-. Steel Bell was steadily gaining ground. Three' furlongg from homo. Steel Bell was cutting down her Sold' at a great rate. At, this stage of. the race Jewel Chimes and Harold Junior' collided and lost, whatever chances, they , may have had. At the entrance to the straight Steel Bell was almost level with the. leaders, and going on in fine style, won comfortably by two lengths from Jolly Girl, with Gold Crest close up in. third position. P«arl d'Ov was fourth, and Pas fifth,

Jewel Chimes went out favourite in the Members' Handicap, tho next favour- , iteS . being August Child and Lucille. Pax, who was on the limit ittalk, soon established a clear lead. Jewel Chimes made a grand challongo in the straight, but could not displace Pax, who won by a\ length. Salamander wae left, and took no.part in tho race. . • ' •;■
