UNSETTLED WEATHER
A southerly jjale is reported, from the north, at Cape Maria Van Diemen, but elsewhere the winds have varied from moderate to strong. In Wellington yesterday the day was fine, and fairly mild for the time of the year. Towards evening a chill crept into the air. Present indications, states the official forecast, are for south-westerly breezes, veering shortly to tho north, especially in and south of Cook Strait. Increasing cloudiness, with rain following, is expected. The barometer is faUiiiff everywhere 'for tho dovclopment of a westerly .storm area about the end of the 'week.
