MASTERTON NOTES
,There are at present- forty-nine patients in the Masterton Hospital, including nineteen in'tho isolation ward., The Military Medical Board will sit at Masterton to-day, and the Military Appeal Board on Thursday. There is stated to bo a probability of a motor lorry service being established between Masterton and Wellington while the train service is vdisorganised. The aggregate amount sued for in the Magistrate's Court at Masterton during last quarter was £896 14s. 9d. For the same quarter in the year of tho outßreak of war the amount sued for was £2469, 6s. 10d. His Honour Mr. Justice Chapman has delivered judgment in. the case BeafoTn tne Supreme Court at Masterton, in which the Akitio County Council and J. G. Sheehan sued Edwin H. Burling, of Pongaroa, for wrongfully removing and detaining part 3of a stone-crushing machine of the value of £27. His Honour awarded the plaintiffs .£2 damages, and ordered the restitution of the missing articles or a payment of £38 ss. Costs were allowed on the lowest scale, with witnessos' expenses and disbursements, and costs to defence of a counter-claim of £3 Bs. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., has purchased the auctioneering business in Dannevirke. of Messrs. Rose, Ltd.
