The many friend's of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lauder have learned, with the deepest regret, 'that their son, Captain John Lauder, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, was killed in action on December 29. Mrs, Lauder was a member of the Presbyterian Church of. St. Peter's, Tooting (Rev. J. Stephens Roose, M.A.), until they moved to Dunoon. She and her. son John never missed a Sunday. After settling in Dunoon, they joined the United Free Church there. Only a few months ago, when John was, on leave from the front,' after ho- was wounded forithe second time, he went to St. Peter's, and joined very heartily in the singing of his own favourite hymn. "Fight the Good Fight." It was curious that Mr. Roose. should have chosen the hymn that day, as ho did not know John was to he there. After the service John went to greet pastor in the vestry, and told him that his faith was in Christ. As a boy, Mr. Roose tells us, John was one of the merriest souls. He'was a very keen motorist, and once or twice got into trouble . for exceeding t!he speed limit. It was one of his great joys to bring his motor and take his minister for a drive.
