The Prime Minister's standing appeal to agriculturists to grow wheat has resulted in a< substantial addition to the Dominion's wheat area, says an exchange. At a recent meeting of tho Runciman branch of the Farmers' Union all the members present promised to do their best to grow a paddock of wheat this year, and it is proposed to hold another meeting in order to induce every farmer in the district to contribute, if possible,' to next season's wheat crop. Little or no wheat has been grown in the district up to the ■Present, but the land is considered suitable far the purpose, and it is hoped that. a good crop will reward the p&tnotio enterprise of the farmers.
