LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

DUE FOR A SPELL Sir, —I) Too, would like to protest at the time tho Main Expeditionary Forco is being kept at concert pitch. It is now close on 20 months since my two sons were sent from here to fight the battles of their country, aud I may say that both of them have been in it from the start, and are at present, I am glad to say, in pretty fair health. But, as the previous letter to you in the same strain says, How long'can they keep it up? Now under ordinary conditions in life a man wants a spell of somo description during that time to recuperate; but what havo these boys had.'' Only ton days, they tell me, up to the present, and is it any-wonder that they should lose their norve alter the severo strain which has been put on them during the period they havo served in the army? I Question if there are any troops of the line in any of tho fighting armies at the front to-day who have been put to so severe a test as the Main Body of our troops, and/1 think and agree with your previous correspondent on the subject, that it would bo an act of justice to relieve' all the Main Body troops and give them a spell. They could, in my opinion, relieve some of the men who havo been doing base work since tho war started, and give those gentlemen 1 a chance to earn a war medal as well as themselves, as no doubt these men returning, being veterans, could and would bo up-to-dato men as far" as .fighting conditions were concerned.—l am, etc., FATHER OF TWO OF THEM.
