A NEW SCHOOL

CELEBRATION AT WADESTOWN. The new public school at Wadestown was opened yesterday afternoon by the Minister of Education'(the Hon. J. A. .Hanan). The occasion was made one of some note in the neighbourhood for the attendance of residents at the function was considerable, and the children of the school were paraded. The more distinguished of the visitors present included the Hon. J. A. Hanan '(Minister of Education), the Hon. A. L. Herdman (member for the district), the Hon. J. G. W. Aitkcn (chairman of Vfche Education Board), Mr. R. Lee (ex-chairman), Mr. J. P. Luke (Mayor of-Wellington). Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., and Mr. T. R. 'Fleming Chief Inspector of the AVellington education district. The chairman of the School Committee (Mr. Ernest Wifferi) presided. AH the speakers wished the school success, and some of them spoke Generally of the importance of education as a part of the national effort. There was a little discussion, semi jooular, as to whoso was the credit for the building of the new school. It.appeared that a great many had had to do with the agitation for the new school, hut there was doubt as to who should have the credit.'
