A very old settler, in the person 'of Mrsf Mary Ann Walker, wife of Mr. Saihuel Walker,, of Otahuhu, has died iniher 92nd year. Mrs. Walker landed in' Auckland in July, 1859, by the ship Whirlwind, after a very stormy passage',of 104 days. At one stage of the-voyage the, ship's mainmast was .carried away. • Mr. ■' and Mrs. Walker livediat. Onehunga, for about twelve months, and -then', removed to a farm at-Clevedon, but, owing to the outbreak of the- Maori War, they had to live-in' Auckland for some time.

On December 22 Mr. and Mrs. 11. Godley, of Weathill, Henley-on-Thames, celebrated their diamond wedding. The* are both S2 years of age, and have lived in Henley all their.lives. They, have seven children, 32 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Their youngest son and 10 grandchildren are serving m the Army.
