SATURDAY'S SITITNG.

Mr. L. G. Reid'j S.M., presided over a short session of the Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning. Sarah Ann Hooker, charged with insobriety and procuring liquor during tho. currency of a prohibition order, was convicted and committed to Pakatoa for twelve months.

Daniel M'Rand'.o and Louisa Tiorney wero each fined 20s. for insobriety. The alternative was fixed at seven days' imprisonment.

Benjamin Whitburn, who pleaded guilty to using obscene language l in Cuba Street, was fined 405., with the alternative of spending a fortnight in gaol.

Charles Walker, alias. Ronald Durrant, was remanded to March 14 on a charge of stealing jewellery • from a dwellinghouso in Wellington.
