ISTRENTHAM SOLDIERS' CLUB
- DONATIONS FOR FURNISHING WANTED. So far the amount received, towards the furnishing fund of tho new Soldiers' Club atTrenthani amounts to £2i3 ss. l)d. lncluled in that amount is the sum of £2> 175., the result of the lecture deliverer in the Town Hall on Tuesday by Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P. Tho response up b tho .present is considered to be poor, and those who are in a position to contribute to the comfort in camp of those who are going forward to risk their lives in the great adventure in Europe should not hold back. The new club is for tho officers, n.c.o.'s, and men, so that all rarics will benefit by this .addition to the lomforts of the Trenthain camp. A fine ;hib on similar lines ftas been established at Featherstou by the generoub people of tho Wairarapa, and it is only a inir proposition that the men at Trenthau shoald be similarly accommodated. .Vhe club itself has been erected by the XM.C.A., aided by a Government grant an-1 donations from the public, and now a sum of ..62000 odd is needed to properly iurnisti the rooms with billiard tables, writing tobies, chairs, floor coverings, etc.. The other centres aro being appealed -o for assistance, and Wellington .-.citizens have been circularised, but the response to the latter has so far been disappointing. Donations will be thankfully received by tho secretary, Mr. E. 3'!. Stoupe, box 11, Wellington G.P.0.. Mr. C. Collins (treasurer), Town Hall, or the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke).
