Fred Taylor and threo Natives were upset while crossing tho river at To!aga last night. Tho' Natives were rescued, but Taylor, who attempted to swim ashore, was drowned. He leaves a wife and seven children. CHILD CRUSHED TO DEATH. Whangarei, March 9. Madgo Johnson, * the three-year daughter of Mr. A. T. Johnson, of Maungatapere, was crushed to death last evening on her father's farm, by an agricultural rojler, drawn by a horse, which had bet'n left temporarily unattended. , ' • . WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. , Whangarei, March 9 Mrs. Mnniiol Abrahams, 'of Kamo, was found hanging dead to a bedrail, with a short piece of'cord round iicr nock. The deed is attributed to despondency following thn death, two months ago. of a newly-born child. The Coroner's verdict was suicido while temporarily insane.
