' Margaret Williams, on her twentyfifth cqnviction for insobriety, was filled 305., with flic alternative- of spending a week in gaol. \ For beba-ving in a disorderly fashion while di-nnk, Hans Ki-tzeid was fined 205., with tho alternativo of seven days' imprisonment. : Bartholomew Mahoney, who requirod medical attention, was remanded to appear Ijitor on it charge of being found in a ■state of helpless drunkenness. Ruby Boughton, a young woman of 21-, was. committed t-o the Salvation Arr"f Homo for twelve months on a cli-rge of possessing iiir-nfficiont lawful means of support. Inspector Marsack stated that defendant had run away from her home. As the remit of a street fteht, Stewart Pollock and Fonry Herbert Andrews were each finnd 20s. far breaking "'the peace.! William TVillcck. for I obstructing .1 policeman in the execution.of his. duty, wa.s fined 10s. John Laidlaw was fined 20s. for I usinp; obscene lantruarce witliin tbo boariiift of pa-ssers-by in AVillis Street. F ; dward Boismi, for a like-offence, was similarly 'dealt with. BY-LAW AND DEFENCE CASES. For being in charge of an insufficient-ly-lighted vehicle, William Kdirard Herbert was fined 10s., with costs 7c. Francis Herman Janscn and Charles Langdon, for similar offences, wero each ordered to pay costs, 7s. For failing to attend drill A. Duncan, C. Sheehy, and F. P. Stirling were each fined us. and costs 75.; A. C. Scott was convicted and ordered to pay costs, 7s. John Russell Physick, tho ocoupier of premises in Hanover Street where fly larvae were found in manure to 6tich an extent that they constituted a menaco to the public health, was fined 65., with costs 7s. 1 .'William Wright Markknd was convicted of riding a motor-cycle on a public cycle track ou the Hutt Road. He was ordered to pay costs, 11s. James Wilfred Fyfe, the owner of a horse found wandering at large, was ordered to pay costs, 7s. ■ DANGEROUS DRIVING. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., delivered his reserved judgment in tho caso in which Henry Victer Evans was charged with driving a motor-car in a manner dangerous to tho public. The defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs, £2 Bs. OTHER CASES. In the two undermentioned cases tho Inspector of Awards, Mr. G. Lightfoot, prosecuted. Mrs. P. Carnie, propgetress of tho Oxford Dining Rooms in Dixon Street, was charged with failing to keep in an approved boliday book a record of tho working day in the week fixed for the half or whole holiday of each assistant. She wn«{convicted and ordered to pay costs,-7s. W. Wolland, butcher, Tory Street, was fined 55., with costs 75., for failing to close his shop when required by law to do so.
