Tho decision of tho Labour Disputes Comniitteo appointe dto deal with tho dispute in connection with the strike of chamber hands at the Southdown and JVostfield freezing works was announced to-night. Tho principal points •affect hours and wages. Hours are • fixed at 47 per week for chamber | hands and 44 for other hands. The ■agreement vmdor the provisions of tho Act and by consent o fthe parties becomes an award without reference to the Arbitration Court. The term is for three months after peace is declared, but not exceeding two roars and a half. . _ Sheep-Clipping operations are now in full swing in the Masterton district. The whole of tho sixty pens in connection with ihe AVairarapa Egg Circle's single- pen egg-laying competition have been taken up, ontrios "having come from' as.far south as Invcrcargill and the north of Auckland. The competition will be held at Mr. W. R. Komball's Poultry Farm, Masterton, and will extend over twelve mouths.
