HAWKE'S BAY ELECTION
SIR J. FINDLAY ACCEPTS NOMINATION ' . REFORM PARTY'S POSITION. < By Telegraph.—Press Association. ■ Hastings, February 21. ; Sir John Fiudlay has telegraphed his iacceptanco of nomination, for tho Hawke's Bay seat. Mr. A. E. Jull has definitely withdrawn. ■ ■ Mr. L. M. Campbell held a meeting ; last night, and announced'that-he "Was not opposing Sir J. Findlay. The Hawko's Bay branch of tho Reform League- has handed the following 'statement to .tho Press:—"An' agreement was oorao to botweeh the Leaders of tho Liberal and Eeform Parties that during the term of tho National Ministry any seat held by either of th"o respective partieb should go. when vacant to that party witliout opposition from the other. Tho Hawko's Bay seat having become vacant through tho doath of the Hon. It. M'Nab, tho Liberal .iParty have tho right . of nomination. Sir John Findlay having been nominated ,as tho official Liberal candidate, the Reform League will in no way oppose Ms election, and in tho circumstances 3jrges all the supporters of the Reform Party' to vote for-him." Mr. H. I. Simson. is still in tho field, and. it' is reported here that Mr. H. lAtmore, M.P." for Nelson, intends standing in tho Labour interests. Mr. !A. L. D. JVaser,' another prospective • candidate, invites supporters to meet him on Friday night.
