BLOW FLY REST
RAVAGES' AMONG, SHEEP. The destruction caused by blowflies in the wool industry is now assuming seri--0116 dimensions (says tile "Sydney Sunday Times"). The pest has becomo worse recently owing to the moist, atinopheric conditions prevailing in many parts df. the country. The introduction of the chalcid wasp to deal with the blowlly has not checked the Jly's ravages in any appreciable way, and the Department of Agriculture is now experimenting with the poisoning and trapping-of the flies. Poisoning and trapping, conjoined with the destruction of carcasses 'on.-.farm's and stations, are looked upon in expert' circles as the safest means of getting'-the scourge under control. ' ' As soon as tlie experiments' are finished a combined' eft'prt will be made by pastoralists and ' the Department to- deal with the pest,' and, if 'necessary, legislation will be introduced ;as in the case of rabbits.
