Long, Colonial Secretary, lias appointed a committee of twenty-five to report on measures for settling within the Empire ex-soldiers who desire to emigrate after the war, to collect information for the troops, and make recommendations as to the steps Britain should take in concert with the Dominions witlui *iew to constitute a central authority to supervise and assist emigration. Lord Tennyson is chairman of the committee, whose members include, Lord Bumham, Sir Rider Haggard, Mr. A. H. gteel-Maitland, M.P., and' Commissioner Lamb, of the Salvation Army, the High Commissioners and Agents-General, members of the House of Commons, and Government officials. —Ails -N.Z.
