NEW YORK SHIPPING. Mailler and Quereau, writing under recent date from Now York, furnish the following report of shipping conditions;— "It is extremely difficult to etate conditions with any degree of reliability. Owing to the severe losses caused by submarines, the British. Government has issued instructions that British steamers are not to be advertised, neither the port of destination nor the dates of sailing, and in this way it. is hoped that no information will he available and there will be less danger from loss by submarines. Information can only be secured from the various agents by personal * application; and this is. not, for publication. . While these conditions ,would not, under ordinary circumstances,-aipply. to business, -between the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, yet as they are put in effect for all .European' ports, the Government has decided to .include ,all British shipping in these rules.'
