Competition for. cattle, however, was not keen', and prices for most of the pens, with the exception of young cattle and weaners, showed, a decline on recent rates. Wo quote:—Small weaners, £2 10s., £2 ■ 155.; 16-month, discoloured steers, £6 10s.; store cows, £6 10s.; fat cows, £10 7s. 6d.; cows and calveß, £11 65.; bullocks, £15 10s.; potter bulls, £9. j The New Zealand Loan and llorcantilo Agenoy Co., Ltd., report:—Wo held our usual weekly sole at Eketahuna on Friday, when wo had only a small ontry of sheep. Id., At Pong&roa, on Thursday we had a, good entry of sheep and a fair one of cattle. There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited throughout the sale. Bidding at auction was .animated.
