"GRAVES BETWEEN US "
'A pacifist M.P., who lias done •nothing to help his country's cause during the war. but las freely blamed British diplomacy, received a severe rebuff recently from an Imperialist M.P., says tlio "Daily Graphic." Both are Labour members, but their encounter, was accidental.. A Liberal invited the Imperialist to join him at table,'' and the latter did not notice until he sat down that the man who is always running down his country was there too. "You know ?" remarked tho Liberal member, indicating; tho pacifist. "Oil, yes, I know him," replied tho patriot. Thereupon the pacifist held out his hand timidly. 'The other refused to take it. "Come, como," said the Liboral, "we all have our political differences, but we forget them here." The Imperialist looked at him squarely. "Thoro aro graves between us," ho said. "Graves?"- inquired the pacifist nervously. "The graves of the soldiers you have dishonoured!" exclaimed tho Imperialist, with an epithet. The other was silent for a moment. Then he ventured "After all. I have a son in the war." / "I suppose ho was compelled to go," returned tho Imperialist. "No, ho went voluutarily." "Then," said tho Imperialist (who himself has a son doing gallantly at tho front), as he. rose and left the table, "tho more honour to your son and the more shamo to his father!"
