UNIVERSAL LABOUR SERVICE IN GERMANY
NEWS FROM HDNLAND. Washington, January 2. Berlin dispatches state that Germany, under universal labour service, is tunfJag out thousands of guns weekly. Skilled workmen havo been withdrawn from tho front, and are working at Krupps and elsewhere. The Germans, estimate that it will- bo four months before a renewal of the full offensivo can be made on all fronts. They expect the first attack at Verdun. The potato crop is disappointing, and there will he privations, despite supplies from Rumania. Food rations are strictly limited.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
