In tlw Supreme Court yesterday Harry aponcer Sivell claimed against Gecyrgo William Slado, printer, Welfogton, for . £263 55., for alleged wrongful dismissal. Plaintiff set out that ho .had been employed by the "New Zealand Shipping Gazette" Company (defendant's company) as foreman, at £4 per week, with an agreement. providing three months' noticc for the termination of tho engagement. Tho amount of £263 os. was made up as follows: —Balance of a loan, £50 ; interest on loan, £7 55.; salary in lieu of notice, etc., £56; damages respecting shares in the business, £150. Defendant denied that plaintiff made liim a loan, denied that there was an agreement of employment such as plaintiff Alleged, and repudiated any liability respecting shares. He added that he dismissed plaintiff for theft of linotype metal, use of foul language before women, endeavouring to induce tho staff to slow-up, and striking defendant on the forehead with a ninepound roller. . - Mr. Justice Chapman heard the case, Mr. 0. Beere appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. H. I). Von Haast for tho defendant. The' case was not concluded when the Court rose for tho day. .
