SENTENCES FOR THEFT Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. " . Alfred Pratt pleaded guilty to having stolen four singlets, the property of Alex. Kennedy was further charged with having used obscene language, assaulting Constable R. Thompson, and with damaging a policeman's helmet, the value of the latter article being lis. On tho obscene language charge he was fined 20s, in default fourteen days' detention, while he was convicted and discharged on the assault charge. Accused was ordered to make good the damage done to the helmet or undergo seven- days in gapl. MISCELLANEOUS CASES.
