ARBITRATION COURT

AWARDS FILED The award of the Arbitration Court has been filed in the industrial dispute (relating to the war bonus) between tho New Zealaud 'Wholesale Clothing Manufacturers' Industrial Union of Employers and the New Zealand Federated Tuiloresses and Other Clothing Trade Employees' Industrial Association of Workers. A memorandum attached to the schedule states that the parties desired that the Court should renew the award made in 1913 for a further period of tlireo years as from May 1, and should insert therein a war bonus clause agreed on by the ! parties. This has accordingly been done. ' The terms and conditions of the previous 'award came into operation on May 1, 1916, and the term is for three years. Tho following provisions rfj.ply to all classes of workers covered by the award, and are deemed to bo incorporated in the award: —

(a) So long as the British Empire remains in a state of war with Germany and Austria, or either of them, and for three months after the declaration of peace, there shall be paid a war tonus of 7J per cent, to improvers and jcur-, ncymen on their weekly wages lip to and including those who earn 355. per we.ek, without overtime; to 4th and stl> year apprentices and journcj'men up to and including those who' earn £3 10s! per . week without overtime. In no oase shall the said bonus bo paid on payments for overtime work. ' . (b) Notwithstanding the foregoing clause, tlio said war bonus may at/any time during tho currency of the arard bo continued, either wholly or partially, or may bo increased, or terminated, as the Court, on tho application of any party to the award, or of. its own motion may determine.

FREEZING WORKS' EMPLOYEES. The agreement arrived at between the parties in the Wellington Freezing ■■Works' Employees' Industrial Union' of Workers, and tho Gear Meat Company and tho Wellington Meat • Export Company has been filed with the Clerk of Awards (Mr. G. S. Clark)- The schedule provides for 'an eight-hours, day and all-round increases in tho rates of pay (already published). The agreement came into force on March 23, 191G, and shall, at tho option of the companies named, continue in operation, either for a period of three years, or for a period to be determined by tho currency of the war. The agreement between the workers and'tho-Welling-ton Farmers' Meat Company of Masterton, which is'practically on tho same lilies, as that-relating to the two AVellington companies, is also being filed.
