WAR PENSIONS

GRANTS FOE THE WEEK. Tho War Pensions Board dealt with 41 cases' this week—2o soldiers and 21 dependents. Eleven soldiers were granteel pensions representing an annual payment of £527, seven, were granted allowances, and two cases wore adjourned. The aniiual payments to 20 dependents represent an outlay of £714, and one application was declined. Particulars of the grand totals of all cases dealt with to date arc as follow:—7s soldiers have been granted pensions, 96 allowances, 30 declined, 14 adjourned, and 19 are on hand. Tha bulk of, the latter axe still drawing their military pay as they have not been ( discharged from the forces. Total, 234.' Four hundred and sixteen dependents have been granted pensions, 2 allowances, 30 declined, 5 adjourned, and 11 are on hand. Total, 470. This makes a' grand total of 704 cases dealt with by the Pensions Board. Up to. the present the total amount of pensions granted is £22,168, made up as'follows: —70 soldiers, represent--ing £4103; 96 wives arid children,

£8419; and 320 other dependents, £9646. Ninety-eight allowances have been granted, making a total of £2632. ■ This week six soldiers received an annual pension of £52, one £78, one £65, two £26, and one'£2o. Of the 20 dependents granted annual pensions, one mother received £65, one £52, one £39, one £32, one £13, imd eleven £26 each. A sister received £52 per year.

A claim was made by a relative of nno of the "nurses who was drowned in the Marquette disaster.
